The tree that I observed at Sheldon Lake was experiencing physical changes as a result of drought conditions during the summer months. A physical change is when an object is altered in some way, but has not completely changed its overall composition. It is apparent that the leaves on the tree have changed color, but they are still leaves. They have not become a brand new substance, though chemical changes are taking place inside the leaf in order for the color to change. The tree can possibly be revived with the proper amount of water and sunlight and another physical change can take place where the leaves can turn green for a second time.
